Allium schoenoprasum, chives (A. schoenoprasum 1), is widely spread as a wild plant on the Northern Hemisphere. Chives do not have swollen bulbs. The long cylindrical green leaves, growing in tufts, are used for seasoning. The flower heads contain numerous pinkish-red flowers (A. schoenoprasum 2).
