Flacourtia indica, the governor’s plum (F. indica 1), is a shrub or small tree, up to 15 m high, with alternate simple leaves and 4-6 yellowish hairy sepals and no corolla.

Distribution and use
The tree is of Asian origin and is grown for its edible fruits, which are violet in colour, about 3 cm across. The flesh is juicy, sweet or sourish, and is eaten fresh or made into jam.
