Sandoricum koetjape, the santol (S. koetjape 1), is a medium sized tree, up to 17 m high, with trifoliate leaves and greenish flowers borne in axillary panicles. The brown globose fruits, 5-7 cm across, are velvety on the surface with a thick rough rind, and contain 5 segments of whitish pulp, which adheres to large seeds.

Distribution and use
The santol is a native of Asia and is cultivated for the fruits, of which the pulp is eaten fresh or made into jams and chutneys. The fruits are also made into preserves. The plant is medicinally used in Asia.
